CELTA 100% Online FAQs

Here are some of the most frecuently asked questions about the CELTA Course 100% Online and it’s answers that may help to solve some of your doubts.

Can CELTA be done online?

Yes. An online CELTA format combines hands-on teaching practices, completion of the four coursework assignments and input sessions where you get both practical and theoretical teaching knowledge. This format also allows for self-study time.

What are the benefits of an online CELTA course?

  • Flexibility: You can access the online materials at any time
  • Accessibility: you work form the comfort of your home with no accommodation and travel costs

How can an online CELTA course contain a practical element?

Teaching practice is fully online and the input sessions provided have a strong practical emphasis.

The course achieves the same objectives as face-to-face courses, i.e. developing effective, principled teaching practice

How is the online course structured?

All course units take place online through the use of interactive materials based on the CELTA syllabus topics. Course work will require participants to work collaboratively and independently on course components, i.e. teaching practices, written assignments and input sessions. These also count with thorough tutor support, as well as continuous evaluation and feedback.

How will teaching practice be organised?

Teaching practice groups are the same as for face-to-face courses in terms of:

  • the two levels taught
  • the numbers of teaching practice students
  • the range of lesson types, all skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) and systems (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and language functions)
  • the number of times you teach
  • the length of lessons

You will teach for a total of 6 hours. These teaching practices will be an hour long each and spread over the duration of your course. Peers and tutors will also be observing teaching practices before sitting down together to share constructive and collaborative feedback comments on the lessons.

How does registration work?

This pre-course process includes:

Completing the application form and pre-interview task

Preparing for and participating in an interview with our CELTA course tutor

Producing an extended piece of written work

Completing the pre-course task

What are the deadlines for registration for the course?

The real deadline is when the course is full. There is a maximum of 12 places on our courses. To be sure of a place, we recommend fees are paid 3 weeks before the start date or as soon as you have been interviewed.

Will the fact that I’ve taken CELTA online appear on my certificate?

No. Online CELTA leads to exactly the same certificate as the face-to-face CELTA. Assessed outcomes are the same for all trainees, so there is no need for separate certification. Courses are assessed locally. The assessor observes teaching practice and has access to participants’ online materials.
